“Blossoms of Hope" is a custom 14-foot art installation created by artist Cheryl Eve Acosta for University Health’s newly renovated Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The commissioned enameled glass project pays tribute to the generous donors who contributed to the development of the $18 million state-of-the-art NICU.
The permanent art installation is a beautiful representation of the hope, resilience, and strength that the families and staff demonstrate. “Blossoms of Hope" is made up of 102 intricately handcrafted pieces that include enameled flowers over copper in varying shades of white, pink, purple, and blue accentuated with a copper edge. The blossoms are arranged in a cascading pattern across the wall in varying sizes. This striking visual display is complemented with hand-forged copper leaves where donors' names are engraved.
The ribbon cutting of the new NICU facility and its “Blossoms of Hope” donor wall took place on April 19th, 2023, at University Health’s NICU. The art can be viewed on the 6th floor of the University Health Truman Medical Center facility, located at 2301 Holmes Street, in Kansas City, Missouri.
“In every colorful garden, flowers bloom at their own pace. No matter what adversity we may face, we carry the strength to overcome it.” - Cheryl Eve Acosta
